Dear Parents and Guardians,
You’ll be happy to know that your speech-language pathology clinic is continuing to grow! We are pleased to announce that to better serve your child, Marissa Weiford, M.A., CCC/SLP, will be joining our team of skilled therapists as a part-time Speech-Language Pathologist.
Marissa comes to us from Philadelphia where she worked for many years as a speech-language pathologist in private practice, hospital, and school settings. Currently she works full-time time with the Plano ISD school system.
She loves to work with children and is passionate about helping children dealing with communication impairments and developmental and learning delays. She is a strong believer, like we are, in early intervention and the use of literacy and language concepts in therapy as early as possible.
Marissa earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, with a concentration in Sociology, in May 2006 from the University of Hartford in West Hartford, Connecticut. She received her Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology in June 2010 from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in Edinboro, Pennsylvania. She graduated with a 4.0 GPA.
Marissa has helped and treated many children with communication impairments such as dysfluency, articulation disorders, cognitive disorders, and swallowing disorders. Most recently she has worked with children on the autism spectrum, and children dealing with Down’s syndrome, apraxia, DiGeorge syndrome, and other cognitive impairments.
We are looking forward to having Marissa on our team, and we are confident she will be a great addition to our staff!
Thank you for supporting our special speech therapy practice, and for helping us to change lives for children and families.
